How to Fly a Kite Writing Activity

This is one of several writing activities I have added to TpT.  Please check it out and try it with your kids.  My students had a ton of fun with this writing activity.  Please let me know what you think!  Thanks!

Finally!

Finally, I have decided to stop procastinating and make a post!  I started this blog with great ideas, thoughts, etc., but have been lax since the beginning of school.  I really have enjoyed reading all the other educational blogs I have found other the last several months.  It amazes me how creative and talented many other bloggers are!  I hope one day I am able to contribute like other bloggers.  I have created several new things for my classroom, and have been working out the kinks with the activities and lessons.  The ones that I really liked I posted on TpT.  Please check out my TpT store if you get a chance.  http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Diane-Ireland
I am working on a few free items too and will upload them over the next few weeks.  Happy Sunday!  Happy Blogging!  Happy Teaching!

Daily 5 - Getting Ready and Pensive

I have been working on compiling all my things for Daily 5. Organization can be time consuming, but I hope it makes everything flow smoother for me (and the KIDS) later. I have been working on selecting books for the first week of lessons, getting book boxes labeled, and putting my pensive together. I watched the video on the Sisters website about the pensive and what they put in it. My question for you all, what do you put in your pensive? Also, any advise before I begin Daily 5 and CAFE with my students. TIA!

Lesson Plan Format and Schedule

It is a Daliy Schedule Linky Party at Simply 2nd Resources. So here I go trying to add something to the party! I am not sure what my schedule will be like this coming school year. This is a copy of my lesson plan format I used last year.

Good Behavior Punch Cards

I created a punch card for good behavior. You may want to use it for various reasons such as being caught doing the right thing or homework. I have used them in the past and once the card is full the student got to go the prize box. I also would copy them on card stock or construction paper for the card to be a little sturdier. Hope this is something somebody else can use.

Banner

I am so excited about my $1 banner. I just received the tracking information and it should arrive in a few more days. This is what it looks like.

Summer Planning

Summer planning has started! My team decided to do GROOVY theme for 2nd grade classrooms next year. I have been thinking of ideas, creating a smart notebook for daily routines, attendance, and expectations. I also created a make words activity for the first week. I would LOVE to get some other ideas of things to do with this theme. Let me know if you have any ideas.
