I am throwing a sale! I just linked up with The Bubbly Blonde Teacher. I thought another treat was perfect for the weekend before Halloween. So fill up your cart with some great treats for you and your students.
It is time for me to SHOP!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned to hear about the wonderful purchases I make. Let me know what you grab.
There once was a little witch that decided to go to school, but something terrible happened. She lost her broom! Well, not really but it worked for my kiddos. Checkout the pinterest inspired craft and writing activity I created to go along with it. I made a quick template, got some paint swatches (or whatever you call those things), glue sticks, some stickers, and of course the students and began creating. Here is the freebie writing activity.
Hope you enjoy the treat!!!! Let me know how your kiddos like creating their little witches.
With all the adds, debates, commercials, yard signs, news coverage, and such, I decided to try a get a heads up on changing and adding to the items I usually do for elections. I updated my Election 2012 Smart Notebook and Power Point I used during the 2008 election. It is full of links to different websites and has a power point that I adapted from the 2008 election. I hope you can use it too. I love having everything in one spot!
Also I decided to do something different for writing too. I made a new writing unit, If I Were the President. I cannot wait to see what my kids come up with this one. I think it is going to be fun! Hope you can use one of these or both!
Planning for October is always lots of fun! I love all the things we study in 2nd grade that tie into themes/curriculum for this month.
Sound - Bats and echolocation - Stellaluna and nonfiction bat books
Life Cycles - Pumpkins - I have several nonfiction books for this too!
Witches and Monsters - Character Traits - Too many books to name - Check out this post for a list.
As I sit on the couch with the TV playing, I start to get really excited annoyed it is debate time! Listening to the responses, I realized I want to know what the kiddos think of the candidates this year. We have not even talked about it at all. I love hearing their take on the commercials and what their parents have been saying. In the past, during elections I have used Kids Voting USA. I usually hold an election in the class as well. I am working on some new writing activities and a interactive smart notebook. I hope to finish it this week. Once I am finished I will share some of the things I create for elections. What are you planning?
