Presidents and Love Is...

As I watched the 44th President take the oath again today, I began to think about the activities coming in February,  Presidents Day and Valentine's Day.  I am beginning a unit on biographies next week and will focus on Washington and Lincoln to begin.  As the study continue, I am going to let the students select a biography to read. Then we are going to complete a timeline and research paper.  I created some fun literacy activities to use with the presidents in centers during this time. I also have another writing activity early finishers may complete, If I Were President.

I also started thing about planning Valentine activities.  I created Love Is...Valentines Literacy Activities to use in centers too.

Election 2012 Freebie and If I Were the President

With all the adds, debates, commercials, yard signs, news coverage, and such, I decided to try a get a heads up on changing and adding to the items I usually do for elections.  I updated my Election 2012 Smart Notebook and Power Point I used during the 2008 election.  It is full of links to different websites and has a power point that I adapted from the 2008 election.  I hope you can use it too.  I love having everything in one spot!

Also I decided to do something different for writing too.  I made a new writing unit, If I Were the President.  I cannot wait to see what my kids come up with this one.  I think it is going to be fun!  Hope you can use one of these or both!
