New Year's Linky!

I am linking up with with Jen over at The Teacher's Cauldron for her New Year's Resolutions linky!

The catch is you have to share two resolutions one personal and one blogging.

So here goes:

My personal resolution:

Live a healthier lifestyle!  Eat healthier, exercise, and enjoy life!

My blogging resolution:

Comment more!  It seems that I have been doing less of this lately!  I love all the ideas, thoughts, and time other teachers put in their blogs.  I need to comment about their posts.  Not just think about it!

So there you have it, my two resolutions!

Also don't forget, I am having an End of Year Sale!

Organizing

Here is to organizing my classroom in 2013.  I have some things started but I really like how neat and colorful these two ideas I found on pinterst.  Click on them to go to the original pin.

This is an old dresser!  What a great idea for math manipulatives and craft supplies.

Love the colors and clean look of this.  Cute idea with the board too!

My classroom library (pics below) had a little bit of a makeover a while back.  Hopefully I can continue to finish it this year.....fingers crossed!

I need to label these!  :(

I did come across a wonderful blog recently and it is all about organizing, helpful hints, and such!

Christmas in Review and Sale

Last week we had a little fun!  During Candy Cane Day, the students were able to make Candy Cane Observations, complete several making words activities, and write acrostic poems about Candy Canes.  It was YUMMY!  We even watched a YouTube video about how candy canes are made.  We compared making handmade candy canes to using machines.

I showed you a picture last week of a bag of pancake mix and a jar.  Here is what we made.  The kids along with a grandparent volunteer made these for their families.  Below are several pictures and an image of the pancake mix card I made to attach to the mix.  We added Christmas M&Ms to make the mix more festive.

I just love how the tags turned out.
Here are some of the ornaments the kids made.  On the back are each child's photo.

Don't forget!
Merry Christmas!

The week in pictures!

We had Fun in Second Grade and learned lots of things!

I thought I would share some of the fun activities we accomplished last week.  I just wish I would remember to snap some more photos.

Elf Glyph

Love his face!  Such an artistic student!

All I Want for Christmas - Santa Writing

Flat Stanley - travels around the world!

Parent/Family Gift bags that the kids made.  Aren't these Rudolph bags adorable!

Easy craft - simply cut a curve at the top of the bag; fold the bag; add antlers, eyes, and a nose.
Inside the bag are coupon books the students created, reindeer food, and an ornament.

Get Wrapped up in a Good Book Bulletin Board - Reading Reviews

This is a surprise!
We made our family gifts on Friday.  I will snap a few photos of the completed product and post later.  The kiddos were so excited about this activity.

I hope to take more pictures today and tomorrow!
Blessings to you all!

Resolving to Create More

One of my goals for myself is to create a few more items to use in the classroom.  So tonight I finished up a new activity packet to do in the new year.  I am excited about it and hope my kids enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.  It has lots of literacy activities that can be used in centers.  Let me know what you think.

My kiddos are still loving the how to writings, and I thought this would be a fun new spin...

I will do a random drawing for one of my free how to writing units on TpT.  Just leave me a message with which one you would like.  The winner will be selected on Friday.  Leave your email address and please become a follower.  Good Luck!

Who is counting? and the Week's Plan

14 1/2 days left with students...but who is counting?

How many days do you have left?  Do you and your students count it down in any special way in your classrooms?

This week my goal is to try to stay in a normal routine.  I am planning a few fun activities but thinking maybe a mellow week will help before all the festivities begin.  We are starting the How to Decorate a Christmas Tree Writing Unit.

Also, I am doing book reviews, Get Wrapped Up in a Good Book.  Mrs. Winston shared this last year.  My kids loved it.  Also, we are making elves!  Math Wire has some great glyphs, and I love the Elf Glyph

I am also preparing my Hot Chocolate Unit to do with my kiddos.  I will be using several things!  I will share more soon after I get everything planned.

Have a good week!  Only 14 1/2 days....
