Monster Books

Monsters, Monsters, Monsters!  My classroom is full of them. (No not my students just the decorations.)  I was looking on pinterst and came across some more ideas.  Then, I saw a great post from No Time for Flash Cards.  I just love the resource list of monster books they have.  I am so excited about October and all the monster activities I am planning for my kiddos.  This list of books is perfect.  Hope it helps you plan your monster activities too.

Monster Time!

The monsters have arrived.  No I am not talking about my students!!!! Even though my classroom has a monster theme this year.  I have been working on a monster unit to use in my classroom in October.  I have updated many things I have used before and added several new monster materials to it.  I just finished uploading it to TPT.  I thought I would share it with all of you.  Maybe there is something you can use in your classroom with your Monsters too!!!

Falling into Fall with Fun Learning Activities

Just another Monday

I think I need to pinch myself or maybe I just need to check the calendar.  Today was Monday, right???  Well, usually you hear people complain, scream, yell, and even through tantrums about Mondays.  I honestly can say I have been in school for fifteen days and today was the BEST day yet.  Yes, I know it was a Monday!!!  But, it was the best day this school year.  My students are GREAT!!!!  I love each and every one of my second graders.  They have the best personalities. I really have not figured out which of these things made my day the best, but here are a few items that contributed to the best day.

•  I finished beginning of the year assessments at 2:08pm today. 
• My morning was full of hugs from past students.
• My day was full of wonderfully behaved kiddos.
• Our math lesson was amazing!
• Yummy leftovers for lunch.
• I left at 4:20!

Hopefully Tuesday is terrific!

Honoring Heroes

Being an Army Brat and growing up all over the country and seeing how important the military is to our communities and country, I decided to try and make something new for my kids to use this year.  I know we all remember September 11th but it is hard for our kids to understand what happened on this day.  I decided to create something that the students could use to make cards, write letters, and even display on a bulletin board to honor all of those that help protect us each and everyday.  This can be used on Patriots' Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. 

 

Fabulous Fall Fun

Are you ready for Fall? I just love Fall for many reasons. Living in North Carolina (close to the mountains) I love the Autumn Leaves Festival, Apple Festival, watching the leaves change colors, and of course all the wonderful fall treats made from pumpkins. One of my favorite recipes is Pumpkin Dip. I blogged about it a few days ago.

I have all ready shared many reasons why I like Fall so here goes my Fabulous Fall Freebie. I saw a bulletin board on pinterest and now can't find it. That board was my inspiration for this activity. The bulletin board was a big piece of candy corn. The students were filling in adjectives to show why they like Halloween. So I created my own activity for my class to do with it. I hope you can use it.
